The summit is over - The topic was the importance of effective and efficient government. Yesterday’s summit participants spent more time in discussion groups, which are given specific questions to answer about government efficiency, accountability and effectiveness.  Here is one question they discussed - what government process frustrates them the most, and frustrates customers too. Topping the list was the Bureau of Motor Vehicles, and how long it takes to get through lines for registrations and licenses. Many said the solution was to automate.

Another topic was access to the new Dept. of Finance Enterprise Resource Planning system. One official said her password changes so frequently she can't get on the system to fill in forms. So what if they change the password every six months instead of more frequently. Almost everyone said the new ERP has some glitches, but is a significant improvement in the workflow of government. Customer Service was a hot topic.  Everyone wants better Customer Service. Many suggested that UVI offer webinars classes on how to deliver better Customer Service.
