The Governor’s inauguration continued with ceremonies on St. Croix – there was a rousing church service at   Friedensthal Moravian Church with prayers given to the Governor, Lieutenant Governor and first and second ladies.  The service was followed and an open house reception at Government House with more than 800 guests feasting on steel pan music and snacks.  Today the activities continue on St. John with a church service at 3:30 PM at St. Ursula’s Church in Cruz Bay and an Open House at the Battery at 4:30 PM. On St. John the roadway from Fashion plaza to St. Ursula’s Church in Cruz Bay will be closed from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. Please use an alternative route.

The Governor has issued Administrative leave –on St. Croix and St. John today from 8 am to 5 pm and on Friday there is administrative leave territory-wide from 8 am to 5 pm for the children’s parade. Saturday is the adult Parade.  St. John WAPA offices are closed. The other islands are open.  Superior court is closed today in St. Croix ONLY. Supreme court employees have administrative leave on Wednesday January 5.

We have a Calypso monarch in Crucian Christmas Festival  as the tent was jammed last night at Island Center for the Performing Arts. On top was Kin Kan Campbell "King Kan" Barnes who won the St. Thomas Carnival monarch title last year and is now St. Croix Crucian Christmas Festival mcalypso monarch. First Runner up was Cedrick “Spade” Brookes and Second Runner up was "The Mighty Pat" Samuel Ferdinand.  Alford "Thunder" Romney went home with the title for Most Improved and James “Moonark” Wakefield took the title for most humerous.

Social Security Representative is usually on St. John on the first Wednesday but due to inauguration activities that Social Security Representative meeting is  POSTPONED TO NEXT WEEK.

ON St. Thomas the Cancer Support Virgin Islands is having a free lecture by Dr Eric Sadler – chief of pediatric hematology and oncology from the Florida American Cancer Society – he will talk about new treatments for cancer and Sickle cell disease at noon at Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute and again at 7:00 PM at Mark C. Marin Center at Antilles School.

UVI has student registration today on St. Thomas at the Administration and Conference Center Building UVI St. Thomas campus. and on St. Croix at the Great Hall.

Virgin Islands Taxi Cab Commission  reminds all owners of taxi medallions that if you are the owner of a medallion that ends with the number ONE you must visit the Taxi Cab Commission this month to update your files. Only medallions ending with the number ONE in January.

Crucian Christmas Festival . In festival village we have Fire King,  Mada Nile and Ras Attitude backed up by the Fyha Train Band at 8:00 PM and at 11 am Roots One then at 1:30 am Lady Saw.
J’Ouvert starts at 5:00 AM wed morning and the Food Fair Arts and Crafts air is at noon tomorrow at the McBean Clock Tower. Children’s parade is Friday and the Adult Parade is Saturday.

Small Business Development Center is offering a hands on workshop on QuickBooks. The workshop will also cover everyday activities, such as estimates; invoicing; making and receiving payments; recording deposits; entering bills; credit card entries; writing and processing checks; and paying tax  liabilities.
