What do residents of Coral Bay think of the proposed East Bay Beach club? Residents met last evening at the Guy Benjamin school to hear about it. Few like it. One resident called it a “greed-driven project.” The developers plan 28 units on eight acres - 16 three bedroom units and a dozen four-bedroom units. Each building with one upstairs and one downstairs. They plan a clubhouse and pool. The neighbors who granted an easement to access the property are unhappy. They expected small houses spread out instead of the big development. Most residents were concerned that it would start and not finish like the Pond Bay Club that sits vacant or the empty facilities at Chocolate Hole or Siranusa that was nearly complete but empty for years before finally sold. Grand Bay had trouble. Coral bay is wary of East Bay Beach Club… And it is so far out – an hour by car to Cruz Bay. That’s a long time for an ambulance to come.

We missed telling you on Saturday about the winners in the Law and You Quiz Bowl at the Superior Court in  Barbell Plaza. The kids from Seventh-day Adventist school held the first place trophy at the end of the day. Second place to St. Peter and Paul school and Kean school was third.

Have you driven by Long Lovers Lane opposite Barbel Plaza? The two acre property where the Warren Brown housing community used to sit - has been cleared. It used to be brush covered. Now it's bare dirt. St. Thomas Federal Credit Union owns the property. They plan a bank building and more… It is in the design phase. No construction  - yet.

The Daily News says the Waste Management Authority waste to energy project at the Bovoni landfill has stalled. They are supposed to be extracting methane gas from the dump and turning it into electricity. Waste into revenue is the idea.  But they are not capturing as much gas as hoped – they need a cover over parts of “trash mountain” so they can capture more gas. They need gear to link to the WAPA’s wires and grid –not cheap. So it is go-slow as Waste Management Authority has to line up more resources.
