WSTA Lucky 13 Radio

Virgin Island Swimmer Sasha Klien has earned a medal at the 19th Maccabiah Games in Israel. Klien competed in the 400-meter girls’ freestyle relay in which she earned a bronze medal.  She led her team from a seventh place to a third place by edging out the fourth place team by 10 millisecond. A rather close finish but none the less, she has made us proud. Klien competed in a number of other events including the 200 meter girls’ freestyle and the 100 meter freestyle. She broke the VI record in the 50 meter girls freestyle semi-final heat with a time of 28.24 seconds. Fourteen of our students, representing five USVI schools, are learning about the natural marine resources and marine science opportunities of the U.S. Virgin Islands at the Coral Reef Discovery Week 2013. St. Thomas angler, Matthew Laban reeled in the Largest Kingfish, a 34-pounder, aboard the Calypso 34, to win the 25th Annual Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament this past Sunday.  Laban was one of 211 anglers, including 39 junior anglers, on 55 boats who participated in the event.  The Second Largest Kingfish prize went to Gina Bengoa, who caught a 33 pounder while Tamika Turbe, fishing aboard...
