DESCRIPTION

The Virgin Islands University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (VIUCEDD) will host the 7th annual Voices That Count policy forum on Oct. 4 and 5 on St. Croix and on Oct. 7 and 8 on St. Thomas. The forum – titled Turn Voices Into Votes – brings together individuals with disabilities, service providers, advocates and Virgin Islanders who are running for public office. First-day morning sessions will focus on formulating questions to ask legislators. Afternoon sessions will consist of a forum for the Virgin Islands delegate and gubernatorial candidates. The forum will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. On St. Croix, it will take place on the UVI campus in the Great Hall of the North West Wing building. On St. Thomas, the forum will be held at the Windward Passage Hotel. While admission is free, space is limited on both islands. To register, contact Dr. Sandra Ross on St. Croix at (340) 692-1919. On St. Thomas contact Andrea Plunkett at (340) 693-1173 or Maritza Swan at 776-9200 ext. 2334.
