Now is the second chance to enroll children in St. Thomas-St. John district public schools for the coming school year. To be registered, the child must be present at registration and students entering Kindergarten MUST be five (5) years of age on or before December 31, 2010. Be sure to bring appropriate documents. Registration is  8:15 a.m. to 12:00 noon, Monday through Friday, at the Department of Education’s Curriculum Center in Tutu. Starting July 6 with last names U through Z and working back to last names A on July 30th

The Virgin Islands Disciples of Christ Church invites you to attend ‘Talk of the Town’- an informal bible discussion - every 2nd and 4th Friday at Berne’s Ice Plant Alley above the travel agency, downtown Charlotte Amalie at 7pm. There will be a social security representative on Wednesday August 4 at the Cruz Bay Department of human Services office from 9:00 AM to 12:45pm to handle social security matters. For more information call 714-0136

The Virgin Islands National Alliance on Mental Illness has a meeting Wednesday August 4 at 6:00 PM in the Schneider Regional Hospital.

The “Remain Close to Jehovah district convention ”is starting August 6-8 at the Marriot Frenchman’s reef ballroom.  Admission is free. For more information call 775-1095.

The UVICELL Center will be hosting a one-day workshop to aid individuals in effective business planning.  The How to Write a Business Plan workshop will be held 9 am to 4 pm on Wednesday, August 11, 2010.  On St. Thomas, the workshop will be held at the UVICELL Center and at the Joseph A. Simpson Building, #23A Hospital Street in Frederiksted, St. Croix.

Calvary Baptist Church is hosting a Daily Vacation Bible School starting August 2nd- 6th from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Ages 3- Adulthood. Transportation and lunches are for free. For more information call 775-4118

St. Thomas Assembly of God presents Tebs Davids and gospel sounds from South Africa also featuring Kingdom life Praise and Worship and Jonny Castor is on Saturday August 7 at 6:45pm in the St. Thomas Assembly of God. Admission is free! For more information call 776-7243.

 

 

Parents of incoming Freshman at the IEKHS are advised that all ninth grade students are required to wear a patch as part of their uniforms which is now available for purchase at the school along with uniform shirts. In other news from the IEKHS parents are reminded of the mandatory 2010 summer reading adventure assignments. Each student is required to read three assigned books. The Crucian Christmas Festival Inc. is accepting theme entries for the upcoming Festival. The theme can reflect the new millennium, be fun, innovative, thought provoking, reflect the spirit or meaning of Festival, cultural themes are welcome too! Anything appropriate goes! The theme winner receives a plaque, tickets to the major Festival shows and two vip seats at the adult parade. Send your entries to
