Our bonds got a Baa3 rating from Moodys in November.
Now Fitch Bond rating agency gave them a BBB.
Not the best, not the worst, and not a worry to the Public Finance
Authority. The bonds are slated to be
used to help Cruzan Rum build a new wastewater treatment plant on St. Croix that
will allow the company to double production. There are 105 million in bonds going
up for sale and they may be oversubscribed – too many buyers for the available
bonds – which will drive down the interest rate we have to pay. Moody’s bond rating agency cited the
controversy over the Rum Cover-over tax in Washington as a factor making the
bonds less than perfect.

$125,000.00 appropriated to purchase new dialysis machines for the Hemodialysis
Unit. On the other hand, demand for the Charlotte

projected 5.6 million dollar operating deficit in Fiscal Year 2010. But “Medical
Tourism” may become a part of the business plan for the cancer center. Dr.
Samuel Hughes, went to the World Medical Tourism Congress in Los Angeles,
California. He says a growing number of U.S. citizens are seeking medical
care outside the country. Dr. Hughes believes that the U.S. Virgin Islands is

accredited cancer institute, a well-developed infrastructure for short or
extended stay, and an established reputation as a premier travel destination.

Match Races. The races feature our own Peter Holmberg who was awarded the
Virgin Islands Medal of Honor for promoting V.I. sailing around the world.
Holmberg’s crew includes Maurice Kurg, Ben Beer and Morgan Avery. Named for the late local sailing legend
Carlos Aguilar, who taught many local youngsters to love the sport, the races
pit one crew against one other crew in fast-action sailing around the marks
right off the seawall. Each match is one-on-one and boats attack each other's
