Our bonds got a Baa3 rating from Moodys in November. Now Fitch Bond rating agency gave them a BBB.  Not the best, not the worst, and not a worry to the Public Finance Authority.  The bonds are slated to be used to help Cruzan Rum build a new wastewater treatment plant on St. Croix that will allow the company to double production. There are 105 million in bonds going up for sale and they may be oversubscribed – too many buyers for the available bonds – which will drive down the interest rate we have to pay.  Moody’s bond rating agency cited the controversy over the Rum Cover-over tax in Washington as a factor making the bonds less than perfect.
