On St. Thomas the low process were at Plaza Extra in Tutu Park Mall and on St. John the lower prices were at Dolphin Market. They are also advising residents to watch out for consumer frauds – charity fishing where fake charities appeal for funds.  And fake invoices from delivery services that look like a bill from FedEx or UPS but are fake. Be careful of social networking requests from people you don’t know – sometimes there are veiled viruses that will install malware on your computer. There are fake jewelry offers that may come in e-mail and contain malware. And there are phony web sites that hide as Christmas greetings but are virus threats.  The Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs is also warning that job seekers are easy prey for crooks who offer to find a job for a fee and take the money and run.

When will the Red Hook ferries be ready for electronic ticketing?  Right now if you are buying a ticket, but that electronic ticket can’t be read by the turnstiles because they aren’t there. When will the electronic ticket scanning turnstiles arrive – maybe June. What is the benefir – well students will be issued electronic passes good for two one –way trips per day no more. Other benefitrs?  The count of passengers will suddenly get a lot more accurate when the full electronic ticketing is in place – you’ll be able to get exact counts of ferry passengers. Not the numbers supplied by the ferry companies themselves.
